Shut Off The Television And Start Blogging

Category: Blogging For Starters

Television is doomed. People don't want to just sit back and watch any longer. Rupert Murdoch isn't right. He's off his rocker. Just look at Myspace and what a wonderful job News Corp has done trashing a great idea. Now Facebook is eating Myspace's lunch. The people that just want to sit back and watch life pass by aren't your customers. And they DON'T make good friends. They certainly won't make up your blog audience. Thus, this creates the current conflict of video marketing. When people hear video marketing, it strikes a nerve with the people who still want to read. I can hear them now. They say things like "I don't watch videos. I want to read." We are missing a key piece. There is no gaurantee that video marketing is going to evolve into infomercials, television shows and movies. Video marketing will become more interactive. I predict if you treat video blogging or video marketing like traditional television media, you will fail. If you start video blogging, you need to make it much more interactive. You need to show opposing opinions. Ask people to help you shape the videos. Be co-creative with your audience. Give your audience alternative endings. Just give them some way to be involved. Don't treat them like sheep. Only evil cult followers want sheep to mindlessly follow them. Blog stars want co-creative souls to stand with them.
