Sometimes You Just Need To Mix Up Your Blog

Category: Blogging For Starters

Blogpreneurs

Blogpreneurs (entrepreneurs) often splatter paint against the wall to see what sticks. What do I exactly mean? Other entrepreneurs have called it the shotgun approach. Shoot a bunch of bullets and hope to hit something. Sometimes we can't analyze what will work. There will be times when your greatest breakthroughs rise out of mistakes. I was working on a top ranking for one of my e-commerce websites. I spent a lot of time and couldn't seem to break to the first page of Google for the homepage. I was stuck at the very top of the second page. I was one listing away from the best seat on Google. I was focusing on page ranking through article marketing and onpage content. Well, one day, I decided to work on something different, the quality of product listings. I went through my product listings and cleaned them up. I rearranged all the top sellers on the first product listing page. The next day, I checked my rankings, and found that first product listing page to be in first place. It turns out, I was focusing on the wrong page to get ranked. That's the perfect example of serpendity and having breakthroughs from splattering paint against the wall.

Keep A Blog Log

When you have a breakthrough, keep a log. I keep a time log of everything I do throughout the day. I write down the events, mistakes and reasonings that led me to the breakthrough. That way I can deletegate the method to someone else to routinely carry out. Or I can remember what I did to achieve success and model it again. Breakthroughs also make for killer blog posts. They are based in reality and people love down to earth stories. Reading stories from people who are only book smart and don't base their experience in reality, is boring.
