Written On 2009 Sun Dec 20Plug The Kitchen Sink To Get Blog SuccessCategory: Blogging For StartersPicture a kitchen sink. See the drain at the bottom. It has 4-5 holes in the drain. Now look at the faucet and the small drip streaming out. The stream is your revenue. The drain is your expenses. When you first start your blog, you need to find ways to plug the drain so your sink can backup full of water. Otherwise, your expenses will always exceed your revenue and that's a big obstacle to gaining momentum. What kind of expenses can you expect when starting a blog? Well, the biggest one is time. Secondary expenses include hosting, design and auxilliary marketing tools like an auto-responder. Each expense needs to bring in revenue before you can expand to new marketing strategies. Search engine optimization will demand a lot of your time. However, you own the positions once ranked and it pays dividends for years. Start with search engine optimization. Don't put a hole in the bottom of your blog by dishing out money for low leveraged advertising expenses. You need to get blogging to profitability before you can even consider big boyz strategies. And still, I always look for strategies I can own, so the return on investment increases month after month. Written By Drew Sire Permalink + Comments |
