Challenge Of Guest Posting On Other Blogs

I've been trying to build my blog up by offering original content to other bloggers so they can post it on their site. I just ask the link stay intact pointing back to my blog. It has been a challenge. I've received half a dozen responses from bloggers saying they don't accept guest posts. One asked me if I wanted to pay $1250 per month for a banner placement. Some responded they are too busy with something else. Some said basically my blog is too new. Bloggers are picky. Here is my dillema. I am only willing to offer original content for just a link because I am starting out. Once my blog is rolling in traffic, I won't have time to offer original content to every other blog out there. I will be using higher leveraged marketing tactics. How do I turn this challenge around? Should I try something else? Should I just stick with article marketing?
